Hi, I'm Lala — My Journey Learning German, From Vietnam to Germany
Lala — founder of LalaDeutschWeg — shares learning German later in life from zero, Vietnam to Germany, plus study materials and exam tips from A1 to C1.

Hi everyone — I'm Lala
Hi everyone, I'm Lala. I was born and raised in Vietnam, then moved to Germany in my early 30s to live and work — and I've been here for a while now.
I started learning German quite late, but I believe nothing is too difficult — the only thing that can stop you is not having enough willpower and determination. I kept practicing consistently every day, and gradually reached some important milestones along the way.
What does this blog share?
I write on LalaDeutschWeg to share real experience learning and taking German exams — especially posts about the B1 level, since I think it's a key milestone for anyone planning to study, work, or settle long-term in Germany.
As for the study materials on the site, I'll gradually cover more levels beyond B1 to fit people's needs at every stage.
My background — solid English, German from zero
My English is quite solid — I learned it from a young age and use it daily at work on a global team. But German I started completely from zero.
I learned German while still in Vietnam, but took my exam in Germany. It wasn't an easy journey: at first I could barely understand most of what people said in everyday conversation; when I stammered out an answer, people often found it hard to understand me too. My reflexes were weak, so sometimes I had to really push myself just to get one sentence out.
A hard start — but steady progress
The early stage was pretty discouraging, but I kept going, little by little, staying disciplined with daily practice even if it was just a small amount. Eventually I reached results I'd call satisfying.
On this blog, I'll share my real experience — from how to choose the right materials, to specific stories about studying and taking the exam. I'm focusing on B1 first, since that's the milestone to conquer first. I hope you enjoy learning German along with me.
